Sankofa Center Compound
Interns from the US, UK, Bahamas and Puerto Rico after rehearsals
Program participants are accommodated in the Sankofa Center Compound located in Dome, a township within Accra, the capital city of Ghana.
Housing is dormitory-style together with other Western interns on the program, with exposure to traditional Ghanaian life through trusted host families living in the compound. Program participants have the security of Western trained local staff, health and safety protocols, and American trained coordinators and staff liaisons to assist them throughout thir stay.
In this way volunteers and interns are immersed in simple Ghanian life such as fetching water, washing clothes by hand, and learning to prepare Ghanaian dishes within a trustworthy, familiar setting of locals and new friends from around the globe.
